1kw Ldmos-fet Linear Amplifier Board
1 KW LDMOS-FET LINEAR AMPLIFIER BOARD. This populated , device ready board, was created to enable the use of the latest LDMOS-FET's devices. Devices that will fit this board are. BLF 578XR and the 1400w version BLF178XR. The MRF6VP121KH will do too but with lower output. All these will work well on this board. The board is double sided plated G-10 board 3oz. All parts are populated except the LDMOS device that you must provide. A temperature regulated bias circuit and a high power transmission line transformer for low loss and wide bandwidth are provided. A full technical manual with all instructions will be provided with the board. Here are some test results with the MRFE6VP12K25 device.

This module with the , BLF188XR/XRS was created to enable the use of the latest LDMOS-FET's devices. This amp board is using the latest state of the art XR devices from NXP (former PHILIPS). The board is double sided plated G-10 copper (high current board). Board is tested and adjusted for class AB of operation. The XR is extremely rugged.
It will withstand 65:1 VSWR!!!!!! (full short at full power).Also n egative feedback for better IMD and gain flatness is used. Input VSWR is optimized as seen on a network analyzer picture. Always better than 1: 1.5 over the entire bandwidth. A full technical paper with all instructions is provided with the board. Here are some spec for the board with BLF188XR. Quiescent drain current 250 mA typ. Peak CW power 1300 W. Efficiency at CW Peak power(1415W) 81.4%. Power Gain at P3dB 29.1dB!! I drain at P3dB 31.6A. Gain is very high so with FB I lowered the gain to get far better stability. The cores are large and many thus an. Average rise of cores temperature is also minimized. As a result I have not. Seen core failure or saturation. And far away from saturation point. Of many cores gives better IMD and far better results than using A single core. Or tube as seen in ON9CVD study on Magnetic s and output transformers for amplifiers. Bias is thermally protected with thermal cut off fuse on the copper.
The heat sink is BONDED FIN type made of pure copper with over 2.5 Kg of weight! Tom W6KAN built an amp using my board you can see it here.
