This appears to be a semi-professionally made piece, as it has a serial number of 255 on the back. My guess is a ham was making these as a part-time business, I just don't know who. If you know the call-sign of the builder, we'd love your input! In this case, the purchaser was WA6CPY.

It's well made with quality components and uses two Amperex Y448 tube, which is a pulse-rated 4-1000A. Now, it's been sitting in a storage unit for a very long time (close to 20 years), so we've made no attempt to power it up. You may need to replace some of the components (caps, resistors, etc).

Also, please note that the high-voltage supply is not included in the sale. Several pieces of equipment from this estate (including this amp) were missing power supplies, and the family has no idea what happened to them.

You'll have to acquire/build your own. The amp weighs about 65lbs on it's own, and will weigh over 80lbs once it is packaged. This equipment is part of a very large silent-key estate we recently acquired, all of which has been in a storage unit for approximately 15 years. We have not done any testing beyond what is specifically mentioned above. There are a few reasons for this, but it essentially comes down to the fact that they almost always need some level of service and it's simply not cost effective to pay our technician to spend time going through them.
It may or may not need components replaced (caps, resistors, tubes, etc), controls cleaned/lubricated, alignment, and so on. Unless you are qualified and capable of working on this unit yourself, or are willing to pay a qualified individual to do the work for you, we suggest you revisit the idea of whether this is the right equipment for you. This item will be packaged using our InstaPak foam-in-bag system, ensuring the utmost protection! Bags filled with a chemical mixture expand around your item and harden to form a protective, yet forgiving, foam barrier.
