1.2 KW LDMOS BLF188XR 1.8 - 54MHz power amplifier (tested). 1.2 KW LDMOS BLF188XR 1.8 - 54MHz power amplifier assembly with 5 by 5 inch copper heat spreader plate (1/8 inch thick). Only the power amplifier assembly (photos 1 thru 6 - green background - and photo 7) is included. I suggest you wait for the complete 1200 watt 1.8 to 54 MHz amateur radio linear amplifier, which is still in development (photo 8). The BLF188XR is rated at 1400 watts RF output. Tested at 14.200 MHz (and at every other amateur radio band in the 3 to 30 MHz range).

Watts in for 1000 watts out (conservative, see test video below). I recommend not exceeding 5 watts RF input power.

Input circuit includes a 4 dB attenuator to achieve a 50-ohm input impedance. Which shows my output power number is conservative. They are more adventurous than I and use a +53.5 VDC drain supply voltage, rather than +50 VDC, resulting in a higher RF output power. The higher drain supply voltage raises the device's output impedance slightly with a resulting increase in RF output power.

Drain supply voltage +50 VDC. Bias supply voltage +13.6 VDC. Drain quiescent (idle) current set at 1 amp. 50 ohm (unbalanced) input and output impedance. Drain supply current at full power is 30 amps (nominal), 35 amps (max). This assembly includes a temperature regulated bias circuit and on-board ESD protection. For use as an amateur radio amplifier, you must add a band-switched LPF assembly. Other than that no tuning is required when changing frequency. This assembly should be mounted on a finned aluminum heat sink with forced air cooling, or other means of cooling, to maintain a temperature of less than 100 degrees C (212 F). Coming soon, a complete, finished, cost-competitive 1.8 to 54 MHz amateur radio amplifier using this. 1.2 KW LDMOS BLF188XR 1.8 - 54MHz power amplifier assembly.
