Gray Model 300 Linear Amplifier Tested and Working 300 Watts Output

  

I will be listing his equipment during the coming weeks and months. Here is a Gray 300 300-watt linear amplifier and receive preamplifier for mobile use. I tested it and verified the amplifier is working; however please read this description carefully. Please note that my Drake wattmeter was in the 2000 watt position on the first two output tests and on the 200 watt position on the low power test (see photos). The receive preamplifier appears to be working correctly and does increase signal strength. As you can see from the photos, the power cord on this amplifier is very short and I had to temporarily rig up some cables to test it and they were a bit smaller size than I would have liked to use. Also, this amplifier runs on 12-volts DC and my Astron RS-35 power supply may have been a little light for this application. I would figure on replacing the power cables and adding a fuse link to the positive cable. Cosmetically, the amplifier is in fair condition. While I have described this amplifier as accurately as possible, please note that such equipment is best enjoyed by those with an understanding of electronics and the ability/equipment to work on them. This unit may require an alignment or other work to obtain peak performance. There are also potentially dangerous voltages present and only an experienced and qualified person should attempt any repairs.
