HF Linear Amplifier by G2DXK
HF Linear Amplifier by G2DXK. Condition is For parts or not working. I have listed as "for parts or not working" as it may need some modification/wiring for your own use. Although I will try and connect it up again and test as I haven't used it for several years. I used it with an FT817, so the inputs are all tweaked for matching to my radio.
This is done internally on the band input tuning board. The relay change over is done using a W6BGL sequencer board.
A bit over kill but I had one laying about so used it. The W6BGL board also controls the PTT and TX Inhibit for an FT817. This means that even if the ptt is keyed, until the sequencer board is ready an inhibit signal is sent back to the ft817 to stop it from transmitting. The relays used are not "proper" rf relays but do fine for this amp as it only puts out about 120W max. I will include my notes and print outs I gathered from tinternet. For more info on the design, google "g2dxk linear amplifier robs web" and choose the top link. It uses two 6146 valves which are fitted. It was a project by Lorin Knight G2DXK reproduced in Radio Communications magazine 1986.
Remember this is a homebrew amplifier so will not be of professional construction. Although I have done my best to make sure it is safe to use. Unless you stick your fingers on the anode with the cover off! UPDATE: The Screen grid led used to monitor screen current is not fitted and the bias led is also not fitted. These do not stop it working, but don't allow monitoring of screen current and bias.
Obviously you could add the leds yourself. The holes are in the front panel.
