ICOM IC-2KL HF Linear Amplifier

The amp will operate from 160M 10M (a note on the bottom stated the 15M band position covers 10M, which worked when tested). Years ago an ICOM tech told me about new, more efficient and quite replacement fan as well as a wiring mod that will allow this amp to be used with newer and older ICOM radios. It involved adding a 5-pin DIN cable that plugs into a more recent ICOM rig ACC-2 (like a IC-746, etc).

The 5 of the 7 pins on ACC-2 are exact to the 5 pin DIN. When I first got this I noticed the light-duty Molex DC power connector was upgraded to a 6 pin Jones plug. Also, the cooling fan runs full time instead of TX only, so the amp stays much cooler and the second temperature switch disables the TX path until cooled down.

Months of use never tripped the second sensor. The front of this amp is an very good condition, the amp is not mint, nor does it show signs of abuse.

The P/S is wired for 220V and with good AC wiring the amp easily peaks up to 700W, but I ran it with the ALC set for 550W. The P/S can be wired for 120V and will easily produce over 500W.

These amps are tanks and just keep humming. It will work with any radio that has a send or PTT jack for amps, or TX with a foot switch. With ICOM radios the 5 pin DIN cable will automate this amp.
