Heathkit SB-221 Ham Radio Amplifier for Parts/Restoration (Modified Please Read). This amplifier is in pretty good condition for its age showing some visible wear. There are some areas of small paint chips, scuffs, scratches, and marks. Also, the feet are cracking as well. Although the amplifier was working when our technician tested it he also observed that the amplifier has been heavily modified. Please read our technician's notes below. Also, please note that no tubes are included! This item has been tested by our technician, a ham radio operator of more than 55 years. Here's what he had to say: Tested on 40 meters key down with 25 watts drive. I was able to get 500 watts output with the new tubes that were installed at the time (not included).

The amplifier has been modified for 160 meters and the safety interlock has been disengaged as well. There may be other modifications that we are not aware of and are also unable to test. The amplifier's power supply HV is 2000 on CW and no load of 2600 on SSB. The fan is also very quiet! If you have any questions about this equipment before or after purchasing, our tech will be happy to assist you.

Please realize that this is a vintage piece of equipment, and unless specifically noted above, it has not been fully restored with new components. It will inevitably need maintenance, however it's impossible to know whether that will be next week or a few years down the road. Unless you are capable of doing this work yourself (or have access to someone who can), we suggest you revisit the idea of whether this is the right equipment for you.
